BRČKO, JULY 10 /SRNA/ - The Government of Republika Srpska will allocate BAM two million to support the Serbian Orthodox Church /SOC/ in Brčko, it was said after a meeting between Republika Srpska officials, SNSD President Milorad Dodik, and the leadership of the District.
After the meeting with District Mayor Siniša Milić and his associates, Dodik specified that, of this amount, BAM 800,000is intended for the completion of the monastery in Popovo Polje, BAM 400,000 for the reconstruction of the Cathedral Church in Brčko, while the remaining BAM 800,000 will be allocated for the improvement of the local Serbian Orthodox cemetery.
According to him, at the meeting, which was attended by Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić and government ministers, support was also agreed for a number of significant infrastructure projects in local communities and organisations, for which a preliminary list is currently being prepared.
Brčko District Mayor Siniša Milić thanked Republika Srpska officials for their visit and concrete financial assistance from the Srpska budget, stressing that the implementation of the announced projects is expected in the near future.
Milić pointed out that the arbitration decision does not prevent Republika Srpska from investing in this area, recalling that the same decision defined Brčko as also being the property of Republika Srpska.
He added that the visit of officials from Banja Luka would continue with meetings with representatives of party structures, as well as with Brčko businesspeople, with the aim of finding ways in which the Government of Republika Srpska can provide additional assistance and strengthen the economy in the District, where a large number of citizens of Republika Srpska live.
