SARAJEVO, JUNE 23 /SRNA/ – The Committee for the Protection of Serb Rights in the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ has asked the Interior Ministry of the Central Bosnia Canton whether any measures have been taken to identify the person or persons who fired several shots at a cross in an Orthodox cemetery in the village of Zaselje near Travnik.

The Committee said in a statement that the criminal act, which damaged a religious symbol, contains elements of disturbing the public and therefore warrants urgent action.

According to the Committee, the cross was erected by an Orthodox Serb who was expelled from Travnik and now lives in Australia, and the apparent intention was to cut through the cross by gunfire.

Census data from 1991 show that 60 people lived in the settlements of Zaselje and Šuviri, all of them Serbs. According to the 2013 census, no Serbs remain in Zaselje.
