MINIĆ: IS BHRT FULFILLING ITS LEGAL ROLE OR REFLECTING VIEWS OF ONLY ONE PART OF SOCIETY?

BANJA LUKA, JULY 5 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić asked whether BHRT, as the public broadcaster, is truly fulfilling its role or is increasingly turning into a media outlet that reflects the views and sentiments of only one part of society.

"Does BHRT, which is supposed to be the public broadcaster for all citizens of BiH, not even have the right to tone down its music programming on a Day of Mourning dedicated to Serb victims?" Minić said.

He added that the request to suspend BHRT music editor Vedran Prodić had opened up a much broader issue.

"If the public broadcaster is not allowed even to symbolically adjust its programming on a Day of Mourning, is it really fulfilling its legal and social role as a public service for all peoples and citizens of BiH, or is it increasingly becoming a media outlet that reflects the views and sentiments of only one part of society?" Minić posted on X.

Yesterday, Republika Srpska observed a Day of Mourning marking more than three decades since the deaths of 3,267 Serbs in the Central Podrinje and Birač region, who were killed by Muslim units.

Because of the need to adjust the public broadcaster's programming to the Day of Mourning in Republika Srpska, the Coordination Board of veterans organisations of Sarajevo Canton requested the suspension of BH Radio 1 music editor Vedran Prodić.
