BRČKO, AUGUST 24 /SRNA/ - Brčko District Mayor Siniša Milić said during today’s meeting with a delegation of the OSCE Mission to BiH that the district had demonstrated resilience to political developments in the surrounding area, and that the focus of the local authorities was on economic development and tolerance.
“Brčko is not isolated from the rest of BiH, but we are tolerant of others and of those who are different. One of the problems we face is a shortage of skilled professionals, given that we are not a large city,” Milić said.
Milić and District Assembly President Damir Bulčević met with Megan McCullough, head of the OSCE Office in Brčko, and Maja Handjiska-Trendafilova, head of the mission’s Policy and Planning Department.
District authorities' representatives assessed the security situation as stable despite several isolated incidents, and stressed that they would provide all necessary support within their respective jurisdictions to ensure the conditions for the smooth conduct of the upcoming electoral process.
The meeting also discussed the implementation of the 2017 Protocol on Cooperation between the local government and the OSCE Mission, with emphasis on the fact that the Government Collegium regularly responds to and condemns any unacceptable conduct that contains elements of a criminal offence.
