KONAKOVIĆ SEEKS TO BOOST HIS PARTY’S RATINGS THROUGH POPULISM

SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 8 /SRNA/ - The decision by Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, to expel two diplomats from the Embassy of Serbia in Sarajevo is nothing more than political populism aimed at improving his political party’s ratings ahead of the upcoming elections, SNSD member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Milorad Kojić told SRNA.

According to him, the widespread Serbophobia in the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ has now spread to the diplomatic corps as well, and Konaković is seeking in this way to show that he is “a bigger Muslim than Alija Izetbegović.”

“That is nothing more than political populism through which Konaković is seeking to secure some seats for his political party in the Parliament of the Federation of BiH and the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH,” Kojić said.

Kojić pointed out that moves such as this further complicate the overall political situation, inter-ethnic relations and relations in the region.

He stressed that representatives from Republika Srpska, which looks to Serbia and loves that country, must respond to this kind of populism by Konaković.

“This kind of populism can bring nothing good to the peoples of BiH. Obviously, he is completely unconcerned about that and is only interested in his political career,” Kojić said.

Konaković announced today that he had decided to declare Milan Dulanović, the military attaché at the Embassy of Serbia, and Danko Maksimović, an adviser to the BIA representative at the Embassy of Serbia, persona non grata, giving them 48 hours to leave BiH.
