KARIUKI URGES FOR FOCUS ON REFORM AGENDA IN BiH

NEW YORK, MAY 12 /SRNA/ - The United Kingdom is calling on political leaders in BiH to focus on the reform agenda and the international community to support BiH on that path, UK Deputy Ambassador to the UN James Kariuki said.

Addressing the UN Security Council session, Kariuki said London is "concerned about the situation in BiH", adding that in an election year it is important to strengthen democratic resilience and ensure the use of modern technology in elections.

"The Dayton Peace Accords commits all parties to respect the political independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH", Kariuki stressed.

He reiterated London's position that the role of the high representative, along with the full powers attached to that office, should continue to be supported.
