JANKOVIĆ: EU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT SCHMIDT'S ATTACK ON RULE OF LAW AND DEMOCRACY

ROGATICA, April 25 /SRNA/ – The only thing the EU should be concerned with is the erosion of democracy and the rule of law in BiH by a man who falsely claims to be the High Representative, stated Siniša Janković, President of the Municipal Assembly of Rogatica.

Janković described as shameful and alarming the silence of the EU Delegation regarding Christian Schmidt’s threats against banks in BiH, as well as the fact that one man has declared himself the ultimate interpreter of law, imposing his decisions as untouchable and beyond judicial review.

Commenting on Schmidt’s recent decision to block budget payments to the SNSD and United Srpska and his order to banks to transfer those funds to an account at the Central Bank of BiH, Janković said that Schmidt is behaving as though he is the law, the judiciary, the prosecutor, the judge, and a feudal lord—using threats, blackmail, and political pressure for his own gain.

Janković sent a message to Schmidt: “Serbs have never, and will never, tether their horse where a lord tells them to. We do not recognize lords – we never have, as our proud history proves. We have always stood on the right side of history, never as servants or lackeys.”

He raised the question of how Schmidt might be abusing his illegitimate presence in BiH in ways not yet visible to the public. “Republika Srpska has already responded to these assaults on the legal and constitutional order of BiH, and nothing he imposes will be enforceable here,” Janković emphasized.

He stated that Schmidt’s attempt to remove the SNSD, the strongest political party, will fail.

"There is no good intention behind his illegal impositions. Worse still, there is a real danger he may provoke a greater crisis to distract from his dealings with Michael Murphy, and to extend his unlawful stay in BiH while collecting an enormous salary," Janković stressed.

He asserted that no meaningful agreement in BiH will be possible until Schmidt leaves, as Schmidt thrives on blocking dialogue, which is why he created chaos just as progress had been made in negotiations.

"For peace, stability, and progress in BiH, the OHR must be closed, and funding must stop for an institution led by a man who incites conflict and encourages Bosniak radicals," Janković stated.

He concluded that the trial charade and the attempted arrest of the President of Republika Srpska were all orchestrated by Schmidt, adding:

"He must leave – not tomorrow, but yesterday. The OHR must cease operations because its presence has only brought harm, manipulation, and anti-Serb propaganda."
