BUDAPEST, APRIL 9 /SRNA/ - The Serbian member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said today in Budapest that BiH is in the greatest political and constitutional crisis, which has, once again, been caused by certain foreign interventions, and emphasized that this country functions as a colony.
"I informed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó about this and reiterated my views that it is unacceptable for some unelected foreigner to enact laws instead of our domestic parliament," Cvijanović said at a press conference after a meeting with Szijjártó.
She reiterated that such a practice does not exist in the civilized world and expressed her outrage that the EU, which promotes democracy, can tolerate something like this.
"I want this and the consequences of such actions to be a thing of the past, and for us to open up to the challenges of democracy, but also to our responsibility to the people who elected us in democratic elections. I am grateful that you understand, Minister, this position," Cvijanović emphasized.
She highlighted the significance of returning to normalcy in the operations of any country, specifically that the state belongs to its residents and institutions.
"We are faced with an enormous amount of international interventionism that is unprecedented anywhere in Europe, and I believe that BiH functions as a colony. There has been a violation of international law and the Dayton Agreement, based on which BiH was established," Cvijanović said.
She pointed out that this agreement not only established peace but also provided an adequate constitutional system, and that it is essential to return to the fundamental values of international law and its respect.
"Today, I spoke about the unacceptable moves made by various individuals who have passed through BiH as high representatives, claiming to derive from some political conference the right to impose laws and be above the parliament, while trampling on and violating international law," Cvijanović emphasized.
According to her, the conclusion of a political conference cannot have more legal force than international law and the constitution of a country.
Cvijanović emphasized that she wants dialogue to return to BiH, which is the permanent approach of Republika Srpska in solving any problem.
"I am afraid that there are some political forces in BiH that want to see unrest and who call for unrest, and I believe that friendly countries, such as Hungary, can recognize that problems arise if such people and forces are given the opportunity to make decisions," Cvijanović said.
She said that Republika Srpska wants cooperation with Hungary, through which Srpska aims to explain to other international partners the position in which it finds itself.
"We want Europe to continue living in peace, to solve the greatest security challenges, and in this sense, we support Hungary's activities," Cvijanović said.
She concluded that Hungary is a very reliable partner from whom Republika Srpska always receives understanding.
