EAST SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 25 /SRNA/ - The Serb Member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović, emphasized that the decisions made at the latest session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska do not represent capitulation, expressing confidence that many positive developments lie ahead.
"Much will happen - I believe positive things - and it will be a long road, certainly, but also an opportunity to put many issues in order," Cvijanović wrote on X.
She stressed that the Assembly's decisions may appear to some as capitulation, but they are not.
"Since I know that, that's how I approached my address in the National Assembly," Cvijanović added.
She expressed her conviction that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska has never capitulated, nor will it ever do so.
"But the National Assembly, on behalf of all of us, must recognize when it is time to threaten, and when it is time for compromise," Cvijanović stated.
She pointed out that what the National Assembly did on October 18 - and which, only hours later, was welcomed by the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Embassy expressing willingness for better cooperation with Republika Srpska - was something highly unusual.
"It should also be noted that only a few days later, the Russian Federation welcomed the actions of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska as well," Cvijanović underlined.
She added that this should not go unnoticed, nor should the fact that the recent session excluded both Christian Schmidt and Sarajevo, as well as certain other foreign actors.
"Ultimately, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska remains, and will remain - as will Republika Srpska itself, which I believe is now more protected than ever," Cvijanović concluded.
