CVIJANOVIĆ: HYPOCRITICAL FOR NOVEMBER 25 TO BE CELEBRATED BY THOSE WHO UNDERMINED EQUALITY OF PEOPLES ON MARCH 1

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, NOVEMBER 21 /SRNA/ – The Serb member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović has said that it is hypocritical for November 25 to be celebrated by those who, on March 1, through outvoting, dismantled the positive aspects of what the date originally represented, the equality and constitutive status of the peoples.

"As for antifascism, Serbs were the main bearers of the antifascist struggle in BiH, as evidenced by indisputable historical and statistical facts, such as the number of fighters and victims", Cvijanović wrote on the social network X in response to claims by the Defense Minister in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez.

She stressed that Helez’s "lectures" on this topic are unnecessary.

"Fifty years ago, we all wore pioneer caps and celebrated everything belonging to that period. It was a reflection of the time and the social agreement that existed then", Cvijanović said, responding to Helez’s claim that she "celebrated Statehood Day 30 years ago and now criticizes it".

Cvijanović questioned the nervousness surrounding the issue and added that in Republika Srpska, the Dayton Agreement is observed, recognizing the country that emerged from it.

"We never expressed any ambition to impose it on the Federation of BiH. Helez celebrates a holiday that arose under a completely different order, which we have left behind", she pointed out.

She added that Helez has the right to celebrate it but does not have the right to impose it on others.

"It is misleading to claim that it is a ‘statehood’ holiday of the entire BiH", Cvijanović emphasized.

She reiterated that BiH does not have a law on holidays, meaning that holidays are established and observed at the entity level.

She also noted that the FBiH does not mark the Dayton Agreement because the Bosniak political elite do not recognize the existence of Republika Srpska, nor the constitutive status of the people.

"BiH has neither a Statehood Day, nor an Independence Day, nor any other official day until an agreement is reached among all parties in BiH. And no such agreement has existed for 30 years. It is what it is", Cvijanović pointed out.
