EAST SARAJEVO, APRIL 8 /SRNA/ - The Serbian member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, said today that, although foreign policy is within the jurisdiction of the BiH Presidency, de facto, it does not exist, as it is carried out in a manner that does not represent the organized participation of all actors.
"BiH's foreign policy is not carried out in a way that the one who is constitutionally responsible defines the foreign policy, foreign policy goals, and activities. It has reached inexplicable levels under the command of Elmedin Konaković /the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers/ who is not a minister representing foreign affairs, nor the goals of BiH's foreign policy, nor all of BiH," Cvijanović told reporters in East Sarajevo.
Unfortunately, she emphasizes, Konaković had a good opportunity to do the job in a way that would allow him to fulfill his role and protect the role of the BiH Presidency, as the body responsible for foreign policy.
According to her, some in BiH are accustomed to abusing and privatizing everything, as well as using state resources to promote their own or the interests of some at the expense of others. As a result, BiH finds itself today in a situation of total division within the diplomatic-consular network.
Cvijanović warned that some things on the political scene of BiH are unacceptable, adding that someone has decided to continue usurping powers, while another is opposing it.
"I did not agree with the possibility that the BiH Presidency would discuss matters in a way that would further deepen the division in BiH, but since I must fulfill my obligations according to the rules, I called today’s session, and we reached conclusions that lead me to seek protection," Cvijanović said.
She pointed out that the other two members of the Presidency have shown what their attitude is like, and that it is an attitude of outvoting.
"They believe that things can be bent to their will and are used to having a privileged position where some foreigners can always accommodate their political demands, as has always been the case in political Sarajevo," Cvijanović said.
