BANJA LUKA, APRIL 5 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Finance and Treasury in the Council of Ministers, Srđan Amidžić, told SRNA that by electing Serbs loyal to Sarajevo, Bosniak political representatives want to harm Republika Srpska as they think that by electing the leader of the List for Justice and Order, Nebojša Vukanović, as Minister of Security, they would pave the way for the passage of all decisions.

Amidžić says he is not concerned about whether Vukanović will become a new member of the Council of Ministers, as SNSD and its coalition partners have the capacity and legitimacy to make decisions.

"Whether a Serb from the ranks of Bosniaks will join the Council of Ministers, that is my colleague Vukanović, I cannot say. It might be more appropriate for him to sit across from us, considering that he was proposed by his Bosniak colleagues," Amidžić said on the SRNA podcast.

He added that it is not the first time that Serbs are fighting for the interests of other peoples, which he believes is the greatest tragedy of Serbian society.

"It is legitimate that there are other Serbs from other parties sitting in the Council of Ministers, but I ask - would it be acceptable for a Serb from Republika Srpska to take a position if he were proposed by Bosniaks?" Amidžić asked.

He also said that, unlike the political scene in Republika Srpska, there is no opposition among Bosniaks when it comes to fundamental interests and their aspirations for a unitary BiH.

"They need that one person who will implement the interests of the Bosniak people. They have found such a person. If Bosniaks are appointing you, then you are accountable to those who appoint you," Amidžić said.

He believes that hatred cannot be a political platform, but added that it is precisely the hatred towards the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, that has united the opposition, which has long since lost the trust of the citizens.

"Then they are surprised when someone calls them traitors. People say that betrayal is worse than defeat because it kills trust," emphasized Amidžić.

Regarding the functioning of the Council of Ministers, Amidžić reminded that it is an auxiliary body of the Presidency of BiH, and that ministers from Republika Srpska can never perceive it as a "government," which is the desire of Sarajevo.

"The Council of Ministers would function better if everyone were willing to accept that. Unfortunately, some individuals do not want to. As long as we are here, we will persist in functioning as defined by the Dayton Peace Agreement," Amidžić said on the SRNA podcast.
