SHANGHAI, NOVEMBER 6 /SRNA/ – Chinese company XPeng has presented an innovative vehicle in Shanghai featuring an electric aircraft stored in its trunk, which drivers can pilot themselves.
Company representatives told SRNA that the product was developed as part of the low-altitude economy concept, aimed at making recreational flying more accessible.
The product consists of a hybrid vehicle that serves as a carrier for the aircraft and an electric aircraft that fits inside the vehicle's trunk.
The car features a hybrid powertrain combining fuel consumption and battery charging, with a total range of approximately 1,000 kilometers.
The aircraft is fully electric and is not a drone, but rather a piloted aircraft, meaning that an appropriate license is required to operate it.
The company said that the aircraft can travel approximately 20 kilometers on a single charge, with a flight lasting around 20 minutes at an altitude of up to 120 meters.
At this stage, the product is intended exclusively for recreational flying, rather than passenger transport or emergency response operations.
Potential buyers are offered free training in operating the aircraft, while its battery can be recharged directly from the vehicle after a flight.
