ATHENS, AUGUST 13 /SRNA/ - A wildfire has broken out in low vegetation near the Kapota military camp in the Menidi municipality, north of Athens, with two helicopters also taking part in a major firefighting operation, Kathimerini reported.
The fire, which has also spread to dry grass, is being fought by 73 firefighters, including three specialised teams with 25 vehicles.
There have been no reports so far of injuries or damage to buildings.
After 7:00 p.m. this evening, Greece’s 112 emergency alert system sent a warning to residents in the surrounding area, urging them to remain on alert and follow the authorities’ instructions.
