MOSCOW, MAY 13 /SRNA/ – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that promoting shared principled approaches to international law within the Commonwealth of Independent States /CIS/ is particularly important in the context of numerous violations committed by the collective West, citing the aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Iraq and Libya as examples.
In a video address to participants of the CIS International Legal Forum, Lavrov said that a "full-scale legal war" had been launched against states defending their sovereignty and pursuing nationally oriented domestic and foreign policies.
"That war is also aimed at the open falsification of history," Lavrov stressed.
According to Lavrov, over the 35 years of the CIS's existence, a solid legal framework has been established in all areas of cooperation, with more than 650 international agreements signed, around 550 of which remain in force.
"Gross violations of international law continue in Ukraine, where the Kiev regime, with the support of its Western sponsors, is implementing an openly Nazi policy through laws targeting the Russian language and the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which constitutes a direct violation of the UN Charter and numerous conventions requiring all states to respect linguistic, religious and other human rights," Lavrov noted.
