VOLKSWAGEN RECORDS THIRD-QUARTER LOSS

BERLIN, OCTOBER 29 /SRNA-Reuters/ - German car giant "Volkswagen" has posted fresh losses in the third quarter, pointing to a deepening crisis at the world's second-largest carmaker.

"Volkswagen" reported an operating loss of 5.9 billion euros for the three-month period.

"The nine-month losses clearly show that there is no more time to lose. We must act immediately and decisively," "Volkswagen" Chief Financial Officer Arno Antlitz said.

Sales also fell by more than the expected six percent in the third quarter, to 75.3 billion euros.

Analysts had forecast a loss of 2.6 billion euros, after a loss of 1.3 billion euros in the same period last year.
