SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 29 /SRNA/ - Minka Kreho has been appointed President of the Court of BiH, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council /HJPC/ of BiH decided.

Minka Kreho has served as acting President of the Court of BiH for the past three years, after Ranko Debevec was removed from the post following his arrest.

She was also the only candidate for President of the Court of BiH.

Presenting her work program to the HJPC, Kreho said the goal is to increase efficiency in organized crime and corruption cases, and pointed to the problem of the lack of an agency for managing confiscated assets.

"There is also the problem of the system for controlling temporarily and permanently seized items," Kreho stressed.

She cited judges retiring as a problem facing the Court of BiH. "Four judges retired this year, and eight more will retire next year, which is why their pending cases need to be reassigned," Kreho said.

In 1991, Minka Kreho was appointed misdemeanor judge at the Municipal Misdemeanor Court of the Centar Sarajevo Municipality, where she worked until 1995.

She was appointed judge of the Court of BiH on January 18, 2007, having previously served as a judge of the Sarajevo Cantonal Court. /
