TUPOLEV AIRCRAFT CRASHES, SIX DEAD

MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 29 /SRNA/ - At least six people were killed and one person was injured when a Russian military aircraft crashed in the Amur Region in Russia’s Far East, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced.

The statement reads that the Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bomber crashed during a training flight in the Amur Region.

“According to preliminary information, six crew members were killed, while one was injured and evacuated to a hospital,” the statement said, adding that the aircraft crashed in an uninhabited area and was carrying no ammunition.

The website Lenta reported that there were nine people on board and that the fate of the remaining individuals was unknown.

According to preliminary reports, the cause of the crash was a fuel explosion.
