TERRORISTS USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR PROPAGANDA AND RECRUITMENT

SAMARKAND, NOVEMBER 6 /SRNA/ – International terrorist organisations are actively using online platforms to identify targets, recruit new members and subject them to ideological indoctrination, Mikhail Maksimovich, Deputy Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service /SVR/, said.

"According to information from the SVR, the most advanced users of digital technology in the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation /SCO/ are international terrorist organisations such as the Islamic State, primarily its Afghan affiliate, Wilayat Khorasan, as well as Al-Qaeda," Maksimovich said at the first SCO Security Expert Dialogue.

He noted that, by using AI-generated content, terrorists create posts in national languages targeting specific ethnic groups, TASS reported.

"These materials contain texts, audio and video files providing instructions on how to use firearms, improvised explosive devices and drones equipped with explosives," Maksimovich warned.
