DUBLIN, NOVEMBER 6 /SRNA/ – Several media organisations in Ireland have been evacuated following a bomb threat sent by email to broadcasters and news outlets, including national public service broadcaster RTE.

The alert was raised this morning after RTE and numerous other media organisations across Ireland and the United Kingdom received a threatening email, according to the broadcaster.

Presenters and staff were evacuated from RTE's headquarters in Dublin, and police arrived at the scene with sniffer dogs.

As a precaution, RTE switched to pre-recorded programming, while its radio service continued broadcasting from an outside broadcast vehicle belonging to the media organisation.

RTE said that the safety of its staff remained a priority.

The broadcaster added that normal programming would resume as soon as possible following consultations with the police.

An RTE correspondent reported claims that the threats were made by the same group that has been issuing bomb threats against aircraft across Europe since the beginning of this week.
