LOS ANGELES, JUNE 21 /SRNA/ – A state of emergency has been declared in Los Angeles due to a large warehouses fire that has been raging for four days.
The state of emergency was declared by Mayor Karen Bass in order to ensure that the city receives the necessary resources to combat the large fire, which has caused thick clouds of smoke over the area, the Associated Press reported.
“The city and county have opened spaces for families seeking protection from smoke, and we will continue to work around the clock and do everything possible to fully extinguish this fire,” Bass cited in a statement.
The warehouse fire in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles broke out on Wednesday, after which residents were ordered to stay indoors due to the risk of polluted and potentially harmful air.
Residents were advised to close windows, doors, vents, to turn off air conditioning units and avoid going outside.
