MOSCOW, AUGUST 2 /SRNA/ – Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that yesterday's bombing at a restaurant in the Russian capital was a brutal terrorist attack.
"Yesterday, a brutal terrorist attack was carried out in Moscow, claiming human lives. The victims are currently being treated in city hospitals, where they are receiving all necessary medical care," Sobyanin posted on social media.
Three people were killed in last night's explosion in central Moscow, including the wife of the alleged bomber, Russian state media reported, citing local officials.
Russia's Investigative Committee said that at least 21 people were injured when an explosive device was detonated at a restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square.
According to the RIA Novosti news agency, the woman attempted to smuggle the bomb into the restaurant, but security personnel refused to let her enter before the device exploded.
No further information has been released by the Russian authorities, and no group has publicly claimed responsibility for the explosion.
