DAMASCUS, JULY 10 /SRNA/ - Syrian police have detained members of a terrorist cell linked to the "Islamic State" that is believed to be responsible for the explosions in Damascus that occurred during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to the Syrian capital, Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab announced.
He wrote on X that information about the detainees would be published after the investigation is completed, including their names, roles and connections.
The head of the Interior Ministry's department for the Damascus region Ahmad Dalati told Syrian state television that a preliminary investigation had determined that the group was linked to the Islamic State.
At least one person was killed and dozens were injured in two explosions that occurred during Macron's visit to Syria, AFP reports.
The explosion near the hotel where Macron was staying occurred after he left the building.
