WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 31 /SRNA/ - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied that a peaceful settlement in Ukraine was within reach, saying that he doubted whether "peace through negotiations is achievable."
"We are trying to find out whether there is a possibility for peace," Rubio told reporters after the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Atlanta.
He praised the diplomatic efforts of U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, saying that the Ukraine crisis was "all they are focused on", alongside the war with Iran.
Rubio reminded that Russia possesses a powerful nuclear arsenal, stressing that there must always be contact between Washington and Moscow "at some level", Baha reported.
