OVER 80 PERCENT OF GERMANS DISSATISFIED WITH MERZ

BERLIN, AUGUST 4 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ — Dissatisfaction with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz among citizens has reached 85 percent, while the Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union bloc trails the right-wing Alternative for Germany party by seven percentage points, according to a survey by the "Forsa" institute.

Only 14 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the Chancellor's work. Even among supporters of the ruling coalition, dissatisfaction with Merz stands at 50 percent.

According to the poll, the AfD is in first place with 28 percent support, while the Social Democratic Party and Merz's bloc are tied at 21 percent each.

The seven-percentage-point difference between the AfD and the ruling coalition is the largest the Institute has recorded to date.

The survey was conducted from July 28 to August 3 on a sample of 2,501 respondents.
