BERLIN, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA-Reuters/ - German authorities said today that there were no external causes involved in the sudden death of Bavarian Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger.

The Berlin prosecutor's office said that further forensic examinations were underway and that the exact cause of Aiwanger's death had not yet been determined.

Aiwanger was found dead in his hotel room in Berlin last night, prompting police to launch an investigation.

"The sudden death of Aiwanger is a terrible tragedy. We are all in a state of deep shock," Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder said in a statement.

Aiwanger, 55, was also Bavaria's Economy Minister and leader of the regional Free Voters party. He was in Berlin for the opening of the party's office but did not attend the ceremony because he was feeling unwell.
