JERUSALEM, OCTOBER 27 /SRNA – Reuters/ – Polls indicate that there is no clear winner in Israel’s parliamentary elections, with the parties of incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former military commander Gadi Eisenkot almost evenly matched.

Israel’s Channel 12 reports that Netanyahu’s Likud party has won the most votes individually, while the bloc of parties supporting the prime minister is projected to secure 50 seats in the 120-seat Knesset.

Meanwhile, the bloc of parties opposed to Netanyahu is expected to win a total of 52 seats.

Arab-led parties, which also oppose Netanyahu, are expected to secure a total of 18 seats, according to the poll.

An exit poll by public broadcaster Kan produced similar results.

According to that poll, Netanyahu’s bloc is projected to win 50 seats in parliament, Eisenkot’s bloc 53, and the bloc of Arab parties 17.

A total of 61 seats is required for a parliamentary majority capable of forming a government.
