LONDON, OCTOBER 15 /SRNA/ – Nearly half of Britons would refuse to take up arms in the event of a war, according to a poll conducted by Ipsos.

The results show that 48 per cent of Britons would not take up arms, while 36 per cent said they would do so under certain circumstances. Figures for the remaining 16 per cent of respondents were not published.

Ipsos said the percentages had changed little compared with August last year.

TASS reported that 51 per cent of Britons believe defense spending should be increased.

The poll was conducted from September 29 to October 1 among 1,090 British adults.
