MOSCOW, OCTOBER 31 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - Nazism has become Ukraine's new state ideology, said Viktor Medvedchuk, former leader of the banned Ukrainian Opposition Platform – For Life party and head of the Other Ukraine movement.
He added that Ukrainian authorities had previously used Nazi ideology to divide society, whereas today it has been elevated to the level of state ideology to unite the nation against Russia and their shared past.
“Those who do not support Ukrainian Nazism face imprisonment and persecution. Nazism has unfortunately triumphed in Ukraine, which is why October 28, 1944, was not the last historical date marking Ukraine's liberation,” Medvedchuk stressed.
According to him, Ukrainian Nazism is being fueled by the collective West, and the Ukrainian people have become a “weapon of madness” and need to be liberated from Nazism.
The Ukrainian authorities have for years pursued a policy of covering up and glorifying Nazi collaborators from the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists /OUN/ and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.
In mid-August, Yevhen Konovalets, the first leader of the OUN, was reburied with honors at a memorial cemetery near Kyiv.
