MORE THAN 90 KILOGRAMS OF MARIJUANA SEIZED

ATHENS, JULY 29 /SRNA/ - Police seized a shipment of marijuana in the Greek port of Igoumenitsa with an estimated street value of more than two million Euros, which was hidden in a truck on a ferry from Italy, the Coast Guard said.

The statement said that the 54-year-old truck driver, a Greek national, had been arrested and was facing charges for violating narcotics laws.

The suspect was detained late last night after police officers with sniffer dogs searched the truck and discovered 92.5 kilograms of marijuana, as well as more than 100 grams of methadone.

The truck was confiscated. The origin and final destination of the drugs are not known, Kathimerini reported.
