MORE THAN 300 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR ARSON

ATHENS, AUGUST 21 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - Greek police have arrested 308 people since the beginning of the year on suspicion of causing fires, Greek Fire Service spokesman Yiannis Artopios said.

Artopios said that only 36 of the arrests were related to deliberately setting fires, while 272 people were arrested for causing fires or creating a fire hazard through negligence.

According to him, 110 drones are continuously monitoring sensitive and high-risk areas across the country.

"Equipped with thermal cameras, they can detect fires at an early stage and help identify potential perpetrators," Artopios added.
