MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 11 /SRNA/ - Lithuania's intentions to lift the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons will represent a new, very serious escalation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"If you place nuclear weapons on your territory, they are aimed at someone. It is obvious that these weapons will not be aimed at the West," warned Peskov.
He emphasized that the territory of Lithuania will be the target of Russian nuclear weapons if Vilnius decides to deploy such weapons.
Lithuanian Parliament Speaker Juozas Olekas said yesterday that the Government plans to remove the provision banning weapons of mass destruction from the Constitution at the beginning of 2027.
