NAIROBI, OCTOBER 16 /SRNA–Reuters/ – Kenya has confirmed a third case of Ebola, the African country’s Ministry of Health announced.
The first two confirmed cases involved patients from the same family, one of whose members had travelled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where the largest outbreak of the disease in history is currently underway.
The first person infected in Kenya has since died.
More than 9,000 cases of infection and over 4,000 deaths have been confirmed in the Congo.
An outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain is ongoing, for which there is currently no approved vaccine or treatment.
