NAIROBI, OCTOBER 14 /SRNA-Reuters/ – A second case of Ebola has been confirmed in Kenya, the East African country’s Ministry of Health announced.

The patient is a family member of the first infected person and was already in quarantine, according to the statement.

Earlier this month, Kenya confirmed its first case of infection with the highly contagious Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus.

The patient, who has since died, contracted the infection in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, travelled overland to neighbouring Uganda and then flew to Kenya.

Kenyan health authorities are tracing everyone the man came into contact with during his journey.
