ROME, JULY 31 /SRNA/ - Italy has suspended the Schengen Agreement with Spain due to the influx of migrants into the enclave of Ceuta, the newspaper La Stampa reported, citing the Ministry of the Interior.
Italian authorities have now introduced controls at maritime and air borders between the two countries.
The decision was made based on the latest data reviewed at a meeting of the Immigration and Border Security Analysis Committee.
Thousands of young Moroccans gathered yesterday at the border between Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. Ceuta Mayor Juan Jesús Vivas said that around 60,000 people had entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta from Morocco in a single day.
