TEHRAN, JUNE 18 /SRNA-Reuters/ – Iran has restored operations at about 89 percent of petrochemical facilities that had been shut down during the war with Israel and the United States, Mohammad Shariatmadari, chief executive officer of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, said, according to the Iranian Students' News Agency /ISNA/.
Shariatmadari said facilities that had been hit by attacks have resumed production thanks to rapid recovery efforts.
According to him, some plants are currently operating above their designed capacity, while others have yet to return to full production levels.
Iran imposed a ban on petrochemical exports in April to secure domestic supplies after production in the sector was disrupted by attacks on companies that provide petrochemical plants with essential feedstocks.
