GATHERING OF ALL THOSE WHO RESPECT LIFE AND WORK OF SERB SOLDIER NEXT SUNDAY

HAN PIJESAK, AUGUST 24 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Minister of Labour, War Veterans and Disabled Persons Protection Radan Ostojić announced that a gathering will be held in Han Pijesak on Sunday, August 30, bringing together demobilized soldiers, war invalids, families of fallen soldiers, as well as all those who respect the life and work of the Serb soldier.

After a meeting of the organising committee, Ostojić said that the event should be a gathering of people as a sign of gratitude to everyone who gave their lives for the creation of Republika Srpska, as well as a demonstration of the unity of Serbs.

“This must be an idea of unity, so that we all gather regardless of which side we support or which political party or civic association we belong to,” Ostojić stressed.

He added that all civic associations, political parties, mayors and municipal heads will be invited to gather in Han Pijesak and thus express gratitude to everyone who gave the most for the creation of Republika Srpska and freedom.

Ostojić said that a decision was also made at today’s meeting that, on the same day as the gathering, the cornerstone would be laid for the reconstruction of the Jela motel near Han Pijesak, which, according to him, played a crucial role in securing freedom and Republika Srpska.

"Once it is reconstructed, it should become a museum or memorial room dedicated to the Republika Srpska Army and will be a place where we will gather," Ostojić told the press.

Han Pijesak Municipal Mayor Slobodan Đurić said that the gathering would be held at the Komnica picnic area near Han Pijesak, adding that all technical requirements for holding the event had been agreed upon at today’s meeting.

"We all know that the Republika Srpska Army General Staff was based in Han Pijesak, that Han Pijesak is of particular importance to Republika Srpska, and we have been waiting a long time for this moment to bring the entire army together and demonstrate unity. Everyone will be invited, and it is important to us that people come to the gathering with their families," Đurić concluded.

The gathering is scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon on Sunday.
