ŠPIRIĆ: MANY LACK FOREIGN EMBASSIES’ SUPPORT AHEAD OF ELECTION CAMPAIGN

SARAJEVO, AUGUST 24 /SRNA/ - Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Nikola Špirić pointed out that, around ten days before the start of the election campaign, there are signs of a weaker internationals’ influence, which, he assessed, is a handicap for parties favoured by foreign embassies.

"Global developments have inevitably spilled over into BiH. In previous years, internationals strongly promoted their favourites, and it would be good if that practice had come to an end. However, this type of support is now being provided more indirectly and subtly. BiH is still more of an international testing ground than a sovereign country," Špirić told SRNA.

Špirić recalled that only Republika Srpska stood up in defence of sovereignty, while various international addresses presented it with bills and the burden of blame through various reports.

"Time always shows who has the vision and maturity to manage processes. Ten days before the election campaign, divisions are growing and they will intensify through election rhetoric. During this period, we will see how mature the institutions managing the election processes are, while the Central Election Commission has started its work with improvisation and adventurism," Špirić believes.

He stressed that, in such a constellation of relations, it is necessary to rely on the maturity of voters to recognise the current moment, as well as the programmes and visions being offered to them on the eve of the elections.

"The time behind us has shown who had visions and who waited for help from foreign powers who were not as untouchable as they seemed and who quietly went back to their homes. We must build our own home, Republika Srpska, ourselves, and I believe that this will be the case in the future as well!" Špirić said.
