INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO SUICIDES IN THE OFFICE OF FRENCH PRIME MINISTER

PARIS, AUGUST 3 /SRNA–RIA Novosti/ – The Paris Prosecutor's Office has opened a preliminary investigation into the suicides of two staff members in the office of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, as well as two attempted suicides by other employees, French media reported.

The first attempted suicide occurred in October 2025 at the Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information, France Inter radio reported.

A project manager at the General Secretariat for Investment died by suicide in March, and several days later an employee of the General Secretariat of the Government also took his own life, according to the report.

Another attempted suicide was made by an employee with 30 years of service in early April. She had previously filed several complaints with various institutions alleging workplace harassment and isolation.

Her colleagues subsequently reported the case to the prosecutor's office, and the employee herself also filed a criminal complaint.

According to media reports, three internal investigations are under way, while the Paris Prosecutor's Office confirmed that it has launched a preliminary investigation to determine whether working conditions and violations of employees' rights contributed to the suicides.
