ATHENS, SEPTEMBER 8 /SRNA/ – This summer was the sixth-hottest in Greece since 1960, according to the National Observatory of Athens.

The statement said that the average temperature this summer was 1 degree Celsius above the average for the 1991–2020 period. Of the 92 days of summer, 68 exceeded seasonal averages.

The hottest months were June, July and August, when temperatures were around 1.6 degrees Celsius above average, Kathimerini reported.

The year 2024 remains the hottest year ever recorded.

Regionally, western areas recorded their second- or third-hottest summer, while temperatures varied across the eastern regions.
