BERLIN, JUNE 4 /SRNA/ - The number of millionaires worldwide increased by almost two million in the past year and reached a record 25.3 million people, according to the latest study, the results of which were published today.
The number of German residents with a high net worth, or people with liquid assets of a million dollars or more, rose by 11.1 percent to about 1.78 million people.
Their combined wealth rose by 12.7 percent to just over 7.1 trillion dollars, thanks in part to a decrease in inflation.
According to data from the consulting firm Capgemini, this put Germany in third place on the list of countries with the highest number of millionaires.
The population of high-net-worth individuals in Europe also grew by 6.5 percent last year, after falling in 2024.
Those gains were attributed to a stabilizing stock market and lower inflation.
Meanwhile, the US added the largest number of "dollar millionaires", defined as people with a net worth of at least a million dollars.
The US added 736,000 millionaires last year - more than any other country in the world - for a total of 8.7m millionaires.
The surge in wealth creation has been largely driven by expectations and enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, which has led to a surge in tech stocks.
Asian economies have seen the biggest regional growth. Japan added 436,000 millionaires and China added 154,000.
