EUROPEAN COMMISSION PROPOSES NO SOCIAL MEDIA FOR CHILDREN UNDER 13

BRUSSELS, SEPTEMBER 17 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ — The European Commission has proposed banning access to social media for children under the age of 13, while access for those under 15 would be limited, European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen has stated. "We are applying a gradual and differentiated approach. Each age group has its own specific characteristics and vulnerabilities, and each will therefore have an appropriate level of protection. No social media for children under 13. No personal accounts for children under 15," Von Der Leyen said. She added that children aged 13 to 15 would have access only to limited accounts, which would be created and supervised by parents or guardians, with usage limited to one hour per day.
