WASHINGTON, JUNE 6 /SRNA-Reuters/ – Jason Asher, Director of the U.S. Centre for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics, stated that the Ebola outbreak in Congo could become one of the largest ever recorded.
The U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention indicated that, without strong public health measures, the current outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus in Congo could reach the scale of the 2014–2016 West African epidemic, and could even surpass it.
"The Centre has published three reports as part of its weekly Morbidity and Mortality Report related to this outbreak, partly with the aim of mobilizing resources from the international community," said the Centre's director, Satish Pillai.
