BUENOS AIRES, OCTOBER 23 /SRNA/ – A verdict in the trial over the death of Argentine football legend Diego Armando Maradona will be delivered on December 22, the court said.
The trial of seven medical professionals concluded yesterday with brief statements from Maradona's daughter and some of the defendants.
"I hope my father gets the justice he deserves, like everyone else," Dalma Maradona said, according to Agence France-Presse.
Leopoldo Luque, the doctor who is the lead defendant in the case, said he was innocent.
Maradona died of a heart attack at the age of 60. He was found dead in his apartment on November 25, 2020.
More than 70 people testified during the trial, which began in April.
Prosecutors are seeking prison sentences ranging from four to 12 years for six of the seven defendants, with the longest sentence sought for Luque.
