BABIŠ: WAR IN UKRAINE IS LEADING TO GATES OF HELL

PRAGUE, SEPTEMBER 17 /SRNA/ – Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš called on Europe to make greater efforts to end the war in Ukraine, warning that the current course risked leading to a wider conflict.

"I am not afraid to say it out loud - the path the world is currently taking does not lead to security. It leads straight to the gates of hell. It is leading us toward a third world war," Babiš said.

Speaking at a defense summit in Prague, Babiš expressed concern that the conflict, which he described as a war of attrition, could expand further.

The coalition led by Babiš, which has governed the Czech Republic since December and includes right-wing populist and smaller right-wing parties, has taken a more cautious approach to supporting Ukraine than the previous government.

That position has put Babiš at odds with Czech President Petr Pavel, DPA reported.

Pavel, a former NATO general, has been a leading advocate of an initiative under which several million rounds of ammunition have been supplied to Ukraine.
