AVILA FIRE LARGEST IN SPAIN'S HISTORY

MADRID, JULY 27 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - A forest fire in the Spanish province of Avila has burned about 50,000 hectares, becoming the largest in Spain's history, the Spanish media service La Sexta reported.

The report states that Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced that he would declare the areas where the fire is raging as disaster zones tomorrow, which will allow for additional aid and recovery measures.

According to Spanish media, about 90,000 people in Avila, Madrid and Toledo have either been evacuated or told to stay indoors, while 16,000 people have been evacuated in the province of Castellón.

Spanish authorities have registered 32 major fires since the beginning of the year, which have burned around 153,000 hectares.
