ARMED INDIVIDUAL DETAINED NEAR THE CAPITOL BUILDING

WASHINGTON, JULY 13 /SRNA/ - An armed man was detained near the Capitol building in Washington, US police said.

"We have just arrested a man at the North Barricade of the Capitol who had a firearm. Firearms are prohibited on Capitol grounds," the police said in a statement.

They added that the North Barricade will remain closed while the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are working to gather more details about the suspect and the reason for his presence near the Capitol.
