MUNICH, AUGUST 6 /SRNA–RIA Novosti/ – The Higher Regional Court Munich has sentenced a 25-year-old Afghan national to life imprisonment for last year's car-ramming attack during a demonstration organised by the Verdi trade union in Munich, Tagesschau reported.

According to media reports, the court found the Afghan national guilty of two counts of murder and 23 counts of attempted murder.

The court determined that the attack was deliberate and motivated by Islamist ideology, with the aim of killing randomly selected people in Germany in response to the situation in Islamic countries.

On February 13, 2025, a car drove into a convoy of demonstrators during the trade union strike, injuring 44 people, two of whom later died.

The driver, an Afghan national, was arrested at the scene.
