LAS VEGAS, AUGUST 17 /SRNA/ – Opening remarks have begun in the trial of Duane Davis, accused of orchestrating the murder of Tupac Shakur, marking the start of testimony about the events that preceded the famous rapper’s killing in Las Vegas in 1996, the Associated Press reported.
Duane "Keffe D" Davis, 63, has been charged with murder with the use of a deadly weapon. He has pleaded not guilty, but faces life in prison if convicted.
The drive-by shooting, which remained unsolved for years, shook the hip-hop community, partly because no one was charged for 27 years, until Davis was arrested in 2023.
The trial could last several weeks. Prosecutor’s Office plans to call between 35 and 45 potential witnesses, while the defene is expected to call only a few witnesses.
