MRKONJIĆ GRAD, JUNE 16 /SRNA/ - The judokas of the Atos Judo Club from Mrkonjić Grad achieved outstanding results by winning nine medals and a trophy at the international judo tournament Doboj Open 2025, and the most remarkable among them was Ana Markanović, who says her greatest sporting role model is world and European judo champion Nemanja Majdov.
The tournament featured strong competition from across the region. Markanović won two gold medals competing in both the older pioneer and cadet categories, along with the trophy for best older female pioneer at the tournament. She managed to defeat all her opponents across five demanding matches.
The club told SRNA that Ana has been practicing judo for only 10 months and already owns 11 medals and a trophy from Doboj tournament. Ana holds a yellow belt.
Such an incredible success for a judo newcomer suggests a potentially bright sports career for the young and talented Ana Markanović, emphasized the Atos Judo Club from Mrkonjić Grad.
The Club added that the medals and participation are a reward for the effort and dedication shown throughout the season by the young judokas and their coach, Ljubica Kadović.
Ana trains alongside her brother, Dimitrije Markanović, who also achieves notable results at tournaments.
The international judo tournament in Doboj brought together over 450 competitors from Serbia, Montenegro, Slovakia, Croatia, and all parts of BiH.
